Nintendo to release second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario
Nintendo has announced that it will release a second trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, an animated video game adaptation featuring Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario. The event will be broadcast live across Nintendo's official YouTube channels on November 30 at 3:30am IST in India/ November 29 at 2pm PT in the US. Nintendo also released a new poster featuring Princess Peach's throne. The movie has faced criticism for casting non-Italian actors in the lead roles, with Pratt's voice lacking the iconic Italian accent associated with Mario. The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. The movie is co-directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the original game creator. Matthew Fogel serves as the writer.
John Leguizamo, who played Luigi in the 1993 live-action Super Mario Bros. movie, criticized the casting choices for the new movie, saying that the "all white" cast is disappointing and "kind of sucks". Leguizamo also tweeted that he was the "only one who knows how to make this movie work script-wise!" after the release of the first trailer.
