Eve, a manufacturer of electric planes in Brazil, is making progress towards beginning its services in 2026 and is searching for regulations to govern the sector
Eve Holding, a subsidiary of Brazilian planemaker Embraer that manufactures electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, is on track to begin commercial operations in 2026, according to the company's vice president of services & fleet operations, Luiz Mauad. Speaking to Reuters, Mauad said that the company is now focused on certifying its aircraft and that he expects authorities to make progress on establishing rules for the sector in 2023. Mauad also said that Eve already has the funds needed to develop the project, following a listing in the US and additional funding from Brazil's state development bank BNDES. McKinsey has recently hinted that additional funding could be important for players in the sector this year, and also suggested that consolidation could be seen as players mature and it becomes clearer what technologies, designs, and business models are likely to succeed. Eve's peers include Joby Aviation, Vertical Aerospace, Lilium NV and Archer Aviation.
