The Flash movie has a surprising plot twist involving a new villain. It is one of the final movies in the old DC Extended Universe, and it sets the stage for a new DC Universe under James Gunn. While the movie pays tribute to previous DC adaptations, it focuses on Barry Allen's story and introduces a new villain connected to his actions.

The main threat in the movie is General Zod and his followers, but the true antagonist is a character called the Dark Flash. This Dark Flash is a version of Barry Allen from another timeline who has been trying to change the past to save Batman, Supergirl, and his mother. The revelation that Dark Flash is a variant of Barry happens at the end of the movie, but there are hints throughout the film.

One clue is when Barry travels through time and encounters the Dark Flash in the Speed Force. Only someone connected to the Speed Force, like Barry, can enter it, suggesting that Dark Flash is a version of Barry. Another hint is the color of the lightning emitted by the Dark Flash, which is purple instead of the usual blue or yellow associated with Barry's powers.

Although the Reverse-Flash, Barry's main enemy in the comics, doesn't appear in the movie, there are suggestions that he may be involved in the future. The younger Barry Allen is introduced wearing a yellow suit, similar to the Reverse-Flash's costume, hinting at a potential turn to villainy.

The younger Barry Allen's comic relief role takes a serious turn when he overhears a conversation between the main Barry Allen and Batman. He learns that his reality merged with Bruce's due to his time-traveling, and this realization distresses him, leading him down a dangerous path.

In a nightmare sequence, the main Barry Allen sees the Dark Flash, further hinting at the connection between them. As the movie progresses, the younger Barry repeatedly tries to change the outcome of a battle against General Zod, showing his descent into desperation and violence.

The Dark Flash is initially shown wearing a dark and bulky outfit with jagged metal shards, adding to his mysterious and menacing appearance.
