The Fast and the Furious Saga: A Recap and Introduction to Fast X
"Fast X" is the tenth installment (eleventh if we count the spin-off "Hobbs & Shaw") in the "Fast and the Furious" series, which has been going strong for 22 years. The films are known for their thrilling street racing and action-packed storylines.
The series was inspired by an article about real-life illegal street racing in New York City. The first film, released in 2001, followed Brian, an undercover cop, who infiltrates a street racing crew led by Dom Toretto. Brian discovers that they are involved in high-speed heists but realizes they have their own moral code. He goes rogue and falls in love with Dom's sister Mia.
The next two films, "2 Fast 2 Furious" and "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," continued the mix of action, crime drama, and racing. In "2 Fast 2 Furious," Brian teams up with his friend Roman to take down a drug lord in Miami. In "Tokyo Drift," a new character named Sean gets involved with the Yakuza in Tokyo.
Things change in "Fast & Furious" when Dom's crew reunites to investigate the apparent death of Letty and take down a drug lord. Dom is arrested, and Brian and Mia help him escape. In "Fast Five," they flee to Rio de Janeiro and plan a heist to steal money from a drug lord. They recruit their crew and form alliances to pull off the dangerous operation.
Before watching "Fast X," it's recommended to revisit "Fast Five" as it's considered the best film in the series. The events in "Fast Five" have a significant impact on the upcoming movie, especially concerning the new villain, Dante, played by Jason Momoa.
