"The Conjuring: Last Rites" in Production, Could Be Final Film in Main Series
The "Conjuring" series is based on the real-life experiences of Ed and Lorraine Warren, who were famous ghost hunters. The fourth main film in the series, titled "The Conjuring: Last Rites," is currently in production and is expected to be released in October 2022. Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick is writing the script, with James Wan as producer and Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprising their roles. No director has been announced yet. Wan has stated that they are taking their time with the project to ensure they get the story right. It is possible that "The Conjuring: Last Rites" may be the last film in the mainline "Conjuring" series. Fans will have to wait to hear more, but in the meantime, "The Nun 2," a spin-off of the series, is set to be released in September 2023.
