Non-Magic Villain Thrawn Adds New Dimension to 'Star Wars' Universe

In the "Star Wars" universe, most major villains have been force-users. However, the upcoming series "Heir to the Empire" introduces a new non-magic villain, Thrawn, who is a Chiss Grand Admiral and a ruthless military strategist. Despite not having the Force like other villains, Thrawn is still a formidable opponent who thinks in numbers, not lives. This makes him an exciting addition to the franchise and a defining villain of this new era of "Star Wars," according to Dave Filoni, who is working on a crossover movie that will conclude his TV work.

However, Thrawn's story in the new canon is different from the original trilogy written by Timothy Zahn. Zahn's books were about the Empire learning from Palpatine's mistakes and trying again, but the new canon has no space for this storyline. Despite this, Thrawn is still a badass villain that doesn't need the Force to be scary, and he adds a new dimension to the "Star Wars" universe.
