Sony has announced the launch date of its upcoming smartphone, the Sony Xperia 1 V, which is set to make its debut on May 11 at 1 pm Japan Time. Although the company hasn't released any official details about the phone, leaked renders suggest that it will feature a triple rear camera setup, a 6.5-inch display, and may be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC with 16GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to come with a 48-megapixel wide-angle sensor, two 12-megapixel sensors, and a 12-megapixel selfie camera. Sony has also teased that the phone will feature a next-generation camera sensor, but hasn't provided further information about its specifications. The phone is likely to have a 5,000mAh battery and a dedicated camera shutter button. The leaked images show that the power button and the volume rocker are on the left side, and there could be a microphone, a USB Type-C port, a speaker grille, and a SIM tray on the bottom, while a 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary microphone could be placed at the top. The Sony Xperia 1 V is expected to be the successor to the Sony Xperia 1 IV, which was launched last year.
