Elden Ring has sold over 20 million copies worldwide
Elden Ring, the action role-playing game developed by FromSoftware and published by Bandai Namco, has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, according to a statement from the publisher. The milestone was achieved just shy of the game's one-year anniversary. Elden Ring reached the 20 million sales mark without any post-launch story DLC or expansion, doubling the sales of FromSoftware's Dark Souls 3, which took four years to sell 10 million copies. The achievement also highlights the success of single-player games in a gaming climate that currently favors live service models. Elden Ring's success is also seen as proof of the market's continued demand for games that prioritize exploration and world-building over repetitive gameplay elements like map icons, waypoints, and endless objective checklists. As the game's one-year anniversary nears, fans have been speculating about potential Elden Ring DLC. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki has promised more content, and data miners have uncovered cut content that could potentially emerge as DLC. Meanwhile, FromSoftware has confirmed development on Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, a mecha robot fighting game that lets players assemble their own robots and pilot them in fast-paced missions. Elden Ring is available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.
