Marvel's Hellfire Gala: Kingpin's Surprising Appearance and Redesigned Costume
Marvel is getting ready for the Hellfire Gala, a big event for the X-Men and other Marvel characters. This year, they have redesigned some important characters, including the villain Kingpin. Kingpin is not a friend of the X-Men, but he will be attending the gala. He has a new costume and is now a citizen of Krakoa, the mutant island, because he married a mutant named Typhoid Mary. Kingpin wants to make himself comfortable on the island, even if the X-Men don't approve.
Kingpin's new design, created by Javier GarĂ²n, is fancy and regal. He has a purple and gold outfit with a cape and feathers. In the cover of Daredevil #13, Kingpin is shown on a stage, holding a valuable resource called the Flower of Krakoa. This resource is important to mutants since they became their own nation.
Previously, in the Devil's Reign crossover, Kingpin tried to remove all superheroes from New York City, including the X-Men, but he failed. Now, he is a disgraced criminal seeking refuge on Krakoa. In X-Men #20, it is revealed that Kingpin and his wife took advantage of a policy that grants citizenship to mutants' spouses. Kingpin's actions as mayor didn't keep him down for long, and his next move on Krakoa could bring trouble to the X-Men.
Kingpin's official debut at the Hellfire Gala shows that his story with the X-Men is not finished yet. We don't know his motivations, but he is a powerful villain who could cause problems for the mutants. With access to the X-Men's home and resources, the Hellfire Gala might be the place for Kingpin to exert his influence over the Marvel Universe.
You can find Daredevil #13 from Marvel Comics on July 5.
