X-Men's MCU Debut: Why the Delay is Best for Phases 5 and 6
The X-Men, a popular group of mutants, are yet to be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2017 opened the possibility for the X-Men and other Marvel properties to be part of the MCU. However, it seems that fans will have to wait a while before seeing the X-Men in action.
The MCU already has plans for Phases 5 and 6, with movies like Fantastic Four and Blade already scheduled for release. This suggests that the X-Men won't appear until after these phases, as screenwriter Jeff Loveness mentioned that they won't be in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Marvel likely wants to focus on the upcoming Multiverse Saga, which is already a complex storyline involving alternate timelines and variants.
While the X-Men have been hinted at in shows like WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it seems Marvel wants to give time for newer characters like the Fantastic Four and Blade to resonate with audiences before introducing the X-Men. However, there is no doubt that the studio will eventually include the X-Men, as they have already teased them in cameos.
The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 led many to believe that the X-Men's MCU debut was imminent. However, it is likely that Jackman's Wolverine will be a variant from another timeline, and his appearance in Deadpool 3 may not directly relate to the MCU's X-Men.
Overall, while fans may be disappointed by the delay in the X-Men's MCU introduction, it is a strategic move by Marvel. It allows the studio to fully explore the complex multiverse storyline and give time for newer characters to establish themselves before bringing in the X-Men. The future looks busy for Marvel with upcoming releases like Deadpool 3, Blade, and Fantastic Four in Phase 6, ensuring that there will be plenty of excitement for fans to look forward to.
