Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy was a series of movies about the popular superhero Spider-Man. In these movies, Peter Parker, the main character, had a romantic interest named Mary Jane Watson. However, the trilogy almost included another character, Gwen Stacy, who would have also had a tragic ending.

Spider-Man is a beloved character from Marvel Comics. It took a long time for him to make his way from the comic books to the big screen, but he finally got his chance in 2002 with the movie Spider-Man. This movie told the story of Spider-Man's origin and his first battle with the Green Goblin.

The success of Spider-Man led to two more movies, but they were not all well-received. Spider-Man 2 is considered one of the best superhero movies, while Spider-Man 3 is often seen as the worst in the trilogy. However, the trilogy continued the complicated romance between Peter and Mary Jane, with the added element of Harry Osborn, Peter's friend, creating a love triangle.

In Spider-Man 2, Peter faced a crisis between his normal life and his life as a superhero. He also had to deal with the villain Doctor Octopus. During the development of this movie, there were plans to introduce Gwen Stacy and have her date Harry Osborn. However, these ideas were not used, and Gwen had a minor role in Spider-Man 3.

Unfortunately, Gwen Stacy's character was not given much importance in Sam Raimi's trilogy. She was portrayed as Peter's lab partner and someone who was attracted to Spider-Man. Her presence in the movies was mainly used to create conflict between Peter and Mary Jane, as well as Peter and Eddie Brock.

Fortunately, Gwen Stacy was given more justice in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, which came later. However, even in those movies, her story followed the tragic ending from the comics.
