Earth's Surprise Appearance in the Star Wars Universe
The Star Wars galaxy is filled with many strange planets, and it has been confirmed that Earth is part of this vast universe. In the Star Wars movies and TV shows, we have seen hundreds of different planets, from the important ones like Coruscant and Naboo, to the more remote ones like Tatooine and Mustafar. Each of these planets is home to unique alien species.
Sometimes, the Star Wars galaxy can be overwhelming with so many planets, but familiar planets are often used to make it easier for us to understand. However, new planets are constantly being introduced. Surprisingly, one of these new planets is Earth. The confirmation comes from an unexpected source: the Star Tours attraction at Disney Parks.
Star Tours is set up like an airport, and it displays departure and arrival boards with the names of various Star Wars planets. Among them, you can find the "Earth System," which apparently has a refueling station for space travelers heading to Endor. Instead of placing Earth in the mysterious Unknown Regions of the Star Wars galaxy, Star Tours places it as a stopover on the way to the forest moon seen in Return of the Jedi.
Although this inclusion of Earth in the Star Wars universe is somewhat playful, there have been more detailed and wacky depictions of Earth in the Star Wars Legends. For example, in a comic series called "Star Wars Tales," Han Solo and Chewbacca crash land on Earth in the Pacific Northwest. Han is even killed by Native Americans, and his skeleton is discovered by none other than Indiana Jones. The comic reveals that Chewbacca is the legendary Sasquatch!
So, the idea of Earth being part of Star Wars has always been treated in a light-hearted manner, both in non-canon stories like the comic and in the official Star Tours attraction at Disney Parks.
