The iPhone 15 series, set to launch later this year, will have four variants including the standard iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which may debut as the 'Ultra' model. Apple has not released any specifications for the new phones yet, but recent leaks and reports have revealed some important details about the Pro versions. According to a MacRumors report, Apple will return to a two-button design for the iPhone 15 Pro models instead of the one unified volume button that was previously reported. The report adds that despite using the previous two-button design for volume control, the company will replace the mute switch with a new mute button, which will be customized in the same way as the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. Renders in the report portray the design that Apple intended to use before deciding to omit solid-state buttons, and they feature the design that Apple intended to employ for much of the iPhone 15 Pro development phase. An earlier report suggested that Apple decided to retain the original volume button design on the iPhone 15 Pro models instead of integrating new solid-state buttons due to the new solution's significantly more complicated construction, requiring the installation of three new haptics engines within the iPhones' hardware. It is believed that the design portrayed in the renders will be used for the iPhone 16 Pro models, which are expected to debut solid-state button technology rather than the iPhone 15 Pro models.
