ISRO's planned experiments for 2023 include a specific mission focused on the Sun and the Moon.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to conduct science experiments on the Sun (Aditya) and the moon (Chandrayaan-3) in 2023. The Gaganyaan project, India's first human space flight, will also conduct a series of experiments with the first uncrewed mission expected in the last quarter of 2023. The reusable launch vehicle's runway landing experiment will also take place early next year from the Aeronautical Test Range. Indian start-ups are entering the space applications market and have raised over $245.35 million. The start-ups are developing commercial hyperspectral imagery satellites, rockets to launch small satellites, cheaper fuels for satellites and space tourism. The number of space start-ups in India has surpassed 100. In 2022, NewSpace India Limited received an Rs. 860-crore contract for the commercial development of the next five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles. OneWeb also signed up ISRO's launch vehicle to put 36 satellites in low earth orbit. A space consultant believes that Indian start-ups should vie for international contracts instead of relying on ISRO.
