The release of The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed beyond 2023

Telltale has confirmed that the release of The Wolf Among Us 2 has been delayed beyond 2023 to avoid burnout and crunch among its staff. The game is shifting development from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5 and the studio wants to avoid releasing an unfinished game. The sequel was announced back in 2019 and development was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The original Telltale Games filed for bankruptcy in 2018, but LCG Entertainment acquired its assets and re-launched the company, functioning under some industry veterans and previous developers who worked on acclaimed titles such as The Walking Dead and Batman: The Telltale Series. The development team for The Wolf Among Us 2 was still in its infancy in 2019 and required about two years to be fully staffed. The game is being developed with assistance from AdHoc Studio, which consists of former Telltale Games' employees. The game is set six months after the events of the first game and protagonist Bigby Wolf leads an investigation into a new mystery in a wintry New York cast in snow, with a new administration in motion, spearheaded by Snow White. The game will be released in an episodic format (5 episodes), but all episodes will be released at a steady pace once they are all ready. The Expanse: A Telltale Series, created in collaboration with Nine Deck Games, is still slated for release this year. The Wolf Among Us 2 will now release sometime in 2024.
