Takeshi's Castle set to return in April
Amazon Prime Video has announced the cast lineup for the reboot of the popular Japanese game show, Takeshi's Castle, set to return in April. The show features Takeshi Kitano as the resurrected Castle Lord, challenging over 100 contestants to a series of physical obstacles. Other cast members include Osamu Shitara and Yuki Himura as the chief retainer and vassal of Takeshi's Castle, comedians Shinya Ueda, Naomi Watanabe, and Ennosuke Ichikawa IV as governors of three castles guarding the center of the castle, and TV presenter Hayato Tani and Subaru Kimura as attack captains. Takeshi's Castle was a well-known game show that featured contestants participating in an array of physical challenges, with some based on skill and brains, while others relied on luck. The original show inspired several international versions and even physical game shows like Wipeout in the US and Total Wipeout in the UK. The reboot will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video in late April, but it is unclear if the Hindi dubbing/commentary, which made it popular in India in the 2000s, will be included. The new show may modernize the challenges by incorporating proximity sensors and action cameras worn by contestants to provide a more immersive experience for viewers.
