OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Plus Subscription Plan and AI Text Detection Tool
OpenAI has introduced a new subscription plan for its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, called ChatGPT Plus, which offers additional features and capabilities to users. The service will cost $20 per month and currently only available in the US, but will soon be rolled out in other countries. OpenAI has confirmed that it will continue to offer a free version of ChatGPT, and the Plus plan is designed to provide users with additional features, including access to the service during peak times, faster response times, and prioritised access to new features. The features of ChatGPT Plus are similar to those of the previously leaked ChatGPT Pro. OpenAI is also developing a ChatGPT API, which can be integrated into existing apps and services.
OpenAI has also developed a tool to help detect if text has been generated by an AI program and passed off as human-authored content. The tool can identify content created by OpenAI's products and other AI authoring software, but it is not a primary decision-making tool, as it has several limitations. In OpenAI's evaluation, the classifier correctly identified only 26% of AI-written text and mistakenly flagged 9% of human-written text as AI-generated. The tool will be available as a web app and will include resources for teachers. The popularity of ChatGPT has raised concerns about authorship, as students and workers use the bot to create reports and content and pass it off as their own, leading to worries about the ease of auto-generated misinformation campaigns.
