Nintendo Unveils The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gameplay and New Switch Model

Nintendo has released 10 minutes of gameplay footage for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, set for release on May 12, 2023. Producer Eiji Aonuma showcases Link's new abilities, including the "Recall" ability to rewind time and use objects as elevators, the "Fuse" ability to combine objects to create weapons, and the "Ultrahand" ability to craft vehicles. Aonuma also confirms that development on the highly anticipated sequel is now complete. The video also reveals a new Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch OLED model launching on April 28, as well as a Pro Controller and carrying case. The gameplay footage showcases Link exploring Hyrule and the Sky Islands, with various ways to reach them, such as using a paraglider. The weapon durability factor from previous games returns, and players can use the "Fuse" ability to create more resilient weapons from objects in their inventory. The "Ascend" ability allows players to teleport upward as long as there is a ceiling, providing a unique way to explore the game's world. Aonuma encourages players to experiment with different methods to explore the unfamiliar Hyrule.
