Snapchat has achieved a significant milestone of 750 million monthly active users
Snapchat has achieved a significant milestone of 750 million monthly active users (MAU), up from 500 million in April 2021 and 600 million in April 2022. The multimedia instant messaging app reported 375 million daily active users (DAU) on January 31, reflecting over 15% year-on-year growth for 13 consecutive quarters. The company attributes its growth to features like visual communication, augmented reality, Snap Map, Stories, and Spotlight. It also revealed that over 60% of Snapchatters use the app daily to create snaps, while over 70% engage with augmented reality on their first day.
Snapchat hosted its Investor Day on February 17, where it disclosed that it expects to reach over one billion users in the next two to three years based on its current growth rate. Evan Spiegel, co-founder, and CEO, said that the company generated revenues of $4.6 billion in 2022, reflecting the brand-safe environment, innovative advertising platform, and large, hard-to-reach audience that makes Snapchat a valuable partner for businesses.
Launched in September 2011, Snapchat distinguished itself from other social apps by making pictures and messages available for a short time. Today, the company competes with Facebook and Instagram, among others, in the crowded social media space. Snapchat's growth can be attributed to its focus on user privacy and its unique features that allow users to communicate without the pressure to appear perfect or popular.
