The Flash's Impact on Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is a movie that faces a difficult challenge because of The Flash. The Flash movie stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen, and he delivers a great performance in his dual role. Unfortunately, The Flash didn't do well at the box office. It had a disappointing opening, making only $55 million, and its worldwide total is currently $140.9 million.

The marketing for The Flash tried to avoid controversies surrounding Ezra Miller and focused on the movie's multiverse story, featuring other popular DC characters like Batman and Supergirl. However, despite these efforts, the film didn't succeed, raising concerns for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

DC is going through changes with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over and rebooting the DC Universe. This is a positive move because the previous chapter of DC movies received mixed reviews. However, this puts the movies produced for the old DC Extended Universe (DCEU) in a difficult position, as audiences are more interested in the future of the new DC Universe.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash were the first two films released under the new regime, but both performed poorly at the box office. Shazam! Fury of the Gods made only $133.7 million worldwide. Blue Beetle is the next DC film in line, and it won't face the same complicated situation as it is part of the new DC Universe.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, on the other hand, still has ties to the DCEU. Although the film will be somewhat separated from the previous universe, it may struggle to attract audiences without a guaranteed future in the new DC Universe.

The Flash's post-credits scene featured Aquaman learning about the multiverse, but it doesn't have any significant impact and portrays Aquaman in a negative light. This scene, along with The Flash's overall performance, suggests that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom should distance itself from The Flash as much as possible to have a chance at success.

The Flash's ending also hints that Aquaman might not be part of Gunn's DC Universe. Given The Flash's underperformance, it becomes even more challenging for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to achieve success at the box office.
