James Gunn Teases New Superman Costume Details for 'Superman: Legacy' Movie
Warner Bros. Discovery is working on a new Superman movie called Superman: Legacy, and James Gunn, the writer and director of the film, has shared some details about the Superman costume. They are exploring different options for the costume and haven't decided yet whether Superman will have his traditional trunks.
The trunks have always been a topic of debate among fans, with some liking them and others thinking they don't fit the modern superhero look. In the 2013 movie Man of Steel, Henry Cavill's Superman didn't wear the trunks.
The Superman costume has gone through many changes over the years in comics and other media. Cavill's version in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) had a different look, resembling a formal Kryptonian garment. In most versions, the costume is made of spandex or a similar fabric.
For Superman: Legacy, it's possible that they will draw inspiration from Cavill's costume and Tyler Hoechlin's Superman from the TV show Superman & Lois. They may aim for a design that is a mix between the DCEU look and Superman & Lois' design, not too much like armor but with more structure than a regular spandex suit.
Once they have cast the actor who will play Superman, Gunn will finalize the costume design. They are currently in the casting process, and hopefully, they will reveal the new suit before filming begins.
Superman: Legacy marks a new chapter for DC characters in live-action, and fans are excited to see how this new Superman will be portrayed and what his costume will look like.
